Ross Neil V. Uy, age 42, passed away at home in Pingree Grove on June 7, 2017 in Elgin. He was born in the Philippines January 19, 1975 to his loving parents, Noel S. and Gwendolyn Uy (nee Villanueva).

Following graduation from high school in the Phillippines, Ross emigrated the United States with his family. In 1993, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving with the 1st Marine Division as a motor vehicle operator from until 1999. He earned the following military awards: Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal with one star, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Meritorious Mast, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and the Pistol Marksman Badge.

Ross then enlisted in the United States Navy for six years, where he earned the following military awards: Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Overseas Service Ribbon, Naval Reserve Medal, Rifle Expert Ribbon, and Pistol Expert Ribbon. Ross then served another six years with the United States Air Force. Following his military service he worked security for a pharmaceutical company

Loved ones will remember Ross as humble, respectful, quiet and reserved. Growing up he was very responsible for his age. As an adult, he was a big and tall guy with a gentle heart. He was loving and soft-spoken and never raised his voice, even when upset.

As a young boy, he loved to read about and watch Star Wars. He played soccer in high school. In his free time, he enjoyed watching movies and playing video games

Ross was preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn Uy.

Ross is survived by his children, Ross Neil Uy Jr. and Jomar Uy; his father Noel S. Uy; siblings Phillip Noel V Uy and Ronald Bryan V. Uy; aunts and uncles, Dominica, Elsie, Sheila, Jose, Walter Jr. and Joyce; nieces and nephews Ashleigh, Bryce, Jared, Miracel, Christian James, and Gwendolyn; and many more family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin IL 60120. Funeral Service will be 8:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, Rev. Robert Camacho officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421.
