My older brother recently passed away unexpectedly. Our family was in shock and needed to find a funeral director to help plan his services. We do not live in the Elgin area but wanted to find a funeral home near my brother's house. We called Symonds-Madison based solely on the online reviews and I'm really glad we did. Daniel was so helpful to our family during this terrible time. He explained what we should expect during each step of the process and answered all of our questions patiently. He was very responsive to our needs and always answered our calls and emails promptly. He was even able to accommodate some special requests that made my mother and niece feel more comfortable during the visitation.
My mom's memorial was on Jun 12, 2019. My sisters and I highly recommend Symonds-Madison funeral home in Elgin, IL if you want honesty, be treated with respect. Dan, Joy, Bob and Jim went above and beyond our expectation. Everything went well and more. They answered every questions we have with complete honesty. They will work with whatever budget you have. I love the homey but professional atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and relax (Funeral-Memorial services always Stress & makes me anxious).
They are so helpful and understanding i loved the great job they did for my fathers funeral.
In reference to my husband's passing, my greatest joy is that he was honored so deeply and with such respect at Symonds Madison Funeral Home. My husband changed his mind in the last two weeks of life in that he wanted to be cremated in his Army uniform. I wanted him to have an Honor Guard send off. My son and I read to him introductions on the web home pages of three area funeral homes. Doug chose Symonds-Madison because it is "proudly Veteran and family owned." I couldn't be more pleased with his choice. Daniel, Joy, Penny, Val, Bob and all the staff made my dreams for his life celebration happen in less than a week---a beautiful and wonderful service.
Dan and Joy Symonds provide experienced and compassionate care to everyone. Their dedication to veterans also shows complete commitment to honor those who served.
Dan and Joy did a wonderful job with all my Mom's funeral arrangements. They were quick to respond to E-mails and phone calls. They really care about doing quality work and providing really good service. I am grateful for all their help in working with my Mom's nursing home, the cemetery, and the florist. Their florist does amazing work that went above and beyond all expectation.
It took way too long to write this review, but I still feel my experience should be shared. When my mom passed away in 2018, I knew she wanted to be buried and not cremated. I wasn’t sure how I was going to afford a burial plus a memorial that I felt she deserved. Dan worked with me and didn’t make me feel ”less than” if I declined anything. They don’t play on your vulnerabilities during a hard time and that is appreciated. I also had special circumstances regarding my moms needs, which I was afraid would double the cost of the funeral, but he was able to find a special casket that I could afford. My grieving process was easier because of they way they took care of us.
We had a double funeral Which to my knowledge has never been done before but both bodies were beautiful even with the small hiccups I loved the attention Daniel and Joy gave my family. I would love to use this funeral home in the future. Thank you Daniel Symonds and Joy Symonds.
Dan and Joy provided excellent service and true compassion throughout a process that we never imagined we’d need.
Symonds Madison is a family owned business. The owner and director Daniel lives by the model "Everyone that walks through the door is treated like family." I would give the business and owner Daniel a 10 stars but the highest you can leave is a 5. Our family couldn't be happier with the service you provided us during such a devastating time of loss. You understood our needs and went the extra mile to make sure everything was as perfect as it could of been. Daniel, our family is extremely grateful for the warmth and compassion you all showed us.
