Daniel the funeral director has gone above and beyond to help with the entire process. He did an excellent job with my aunt's service last week. Two years ago he helped us with my father in law's service. It's hard to lose a loved one, but finding the right place is important.
In reference to my husband's passing, my greatest joy is that he was honored so deeply and with such respect at Symonds Madison Funeral Home. My husband changed his mind in the last two weeks of life in that he wanted to be cremated in his Army uniform. I wanted him to have an Honor Guard send off. My son and I read to him introductions on the web home pages of three area funeral homes. Doug chose Symonds-Madison because it is "proudly Veteran and family owned." I couldn't be more pleased with his choice. Daniel, Joy, Penny, Val, Bob and all the staff made my dreams for his life celebration happen in less than a week---a beautiful and wonderful service.
Daniel made us feel like family the minute we walked through the door. He was very compassionate and made us feel comfortable in trusting him with our loved one. During such a difficult and emotional time, your mind is elsewhere; when so many things need to be handled. Daniel took care of everything for us and gave us the gift of time; time for us to be able to say goodbye to my mom without being rushed or having to worry about every little detail that needed to be done. My mom looked beautiful, the service was beautiful and the flowers were beautiful. Thank you Daniel and Joy for helping us through this difficult time, for handling all the details that are overwhelming for the family and for offering your support. I would give you more than 5 stars if it were possible. Rogelia Aranda
Our mothers loss was very sudden and unexpected. Symonds Madison funeral home was extremely understanding, sympathetic and patient in guiding us through these very difficult decisions and processes. The prayer cards were very well done and we felt reflected our mothers personality appropriately. The family all feel that we made the right decision in choosing Symonds Madison at this very difficult time.
Dan and Joy were great and treated our family like they were their family! I really can’t thank the staff enough for helping us turn a tragedy into a celebration of an amazing life.
The 5 star rating whould be higher if I could 10 out of 10 or higher. I want to express my sincere gratitude for the care and assistance I was given at Symonds Madison funeral home. My lose of my son was sudden unexpected tragic.Symonds Madison was upfront on costs and was very helpful for me through the entire process. After the funeral was over they continue to assist me with paperwork which was over and above what could be expected from any funeral home. Six years before I had lost my wife I used one of the bigger funeral home in elgin and I was anywhere as satisfied.Symonds Madison even help me complete something left to do from six years from my wifes passing. Symonds Madison is a family owned business. The owner and director Daniel lives by the model "Everyone that walks through the door is treated like family." I would give the business and owner Daniel a 10 stars but the highest you can leave is a 5. Our family couldn't be happier with the service you provided us during such a devastating time of loss. You understood our needs and went the extra mile to make sure everything was as perfect as it could of been. Daniel, our family is extremely grateful for the warmth and compassion you all showed us. My uncle unfortunately passed away from lung disease over a year ago. His financial after life situation wasn’t ideal and it was complicated for my family to handle his funeral arrangements. We thank God for sending us to Symonds-Madison Funeral Services who allowed us to lay him to rest peacefully and without financial burden. They are good people! One of Elgin’s best!
I lost my son friday and Daniel and his wife joy were so comforting to me and my family. Even though my son was to be cremated he gave me a peaceful viewing and made the experience so joyful. They went above and beyond any expectations.
One of the most difficult things in life we go through is the loss of a loved one. When you are the one who is responsible to make their final arrangements, it can be the most stressful experience of your life. My family recently suffered the loss of our dad and Daniel Symonds- Funeral Director/Owner and his staff made me and my family feel at ease and comfortable. They treated us like they were part of our family. Daniel answered all our phone calls with patience. They took care of everything and were compassionate and very professional. They took the time to understand our sometimes complicated wishes and helped explain decisions we had to make. With respect to the level of service of the Symonds-Madison funeral Home, If I could give them 10 stars I would. On behalf of the Ogunribido Family, Thank You. You made a heartbreaking experience manageable and memorable. I'm sure daddy is smiling in heaven!
