Dan has proven himself to be a mover of mountains to get things done right. As well as being a TRUE friend of those in the military. I will use him for my own funeral. Thank you Dan for all you do. For Bill Kopecki

Dan and Joy provided excellent service and true compassion throughout a process that we never imagined we’d need.

I lost my son friday and Daniel and his wife joy were so comforting to me and my family. Even though my son was to be cremated he gave me a peaceful viewing and made the experience so joyful. They went above and beyond any expectations.

In reference to my husband's passing, my greatest joy is that he was honored so deeply and with such respect at Symonds Madison Funeral Home. My husband changed his mind in the last two weeks of life in that he wanted to be cremated in his Army uniform. I wanted him to have an Honor Guard send off. My son and I read to him introductions on the web home pages of three area funeral homes. Doug chose Symonds-Madison because it is "proudly Veteran and family owned." I couldn't be more pleased with his choice. Daniel, Joy, Penny, Val, Bob and all the staff made my dreams for his life celebration happen in less than a week---a beautiful and wonderful service.

I attended the funeral of John James Murphy on Jan 20, 2020. This day will always be in my heart, The day was humbling, emotional and full of love and respect. We were all brought together by a total stranger and left as family. I am sure John Murphy felt the love. I attended with my sister. Like everyone else we did not know what to expect. When we saw all the cars and lines of people it brought tears to our eyes. We talked with several service members, who were touched by the response of community. After paying our respects my sister said "lets move to the back". The only man (Dan) sitting in front row said "why, we are his family" We were honored to sit in front.

Daniel the funeral director has gone above and beyond to help with the entire process. He did an excellent job with my aunt's service last week. Two years ago he helped us with my father in law's service. It's hard to lose a loved one, but finding the right place is important.

Dan and Joy were great and treated our family like they were their family! I really can’t thank the staff enough for helping us turn a tragedy into a celebration of an amazing life.

Symonds-Madison Funeral Home went above and beyond when it came to planning my son’s cremation. I’ve never had any experience with this, but they made everything easy to understand, helped walk us through everything, and I was even given helpful materials as a grieving mother. I love the fact that this is a family run, local business and it’s apparent they really care about what they’re doing and the families they are helping. I cannot recommend them enough to help through the difficult process of planning any services.

My uncle unfortunately passed away from lung disease over a year ago. His financial after life situation wasn’t ideal and it was complicated for my family to handle his funeral arrangements. We thank God for sending us to Symonds-Madison Funeral Services who allowed us to lay him to rest peacefully and without financial burden. They are good people! One of Elgin’s best!
