Had the pleasure of working with Daniel with the passing of our Dad. He was extremely patient, helpful and made sure that our Dad was taken care of. With the pandemic, he made sure we understood all the processes and kept us well informed. He answered every phone call, text message or email we sent and for that we were extremely thankful! I would definitely recommend Daniel and his facility to our friends and family.
One of the most difficult things in life we go through is the loss of a loved one. When you are the one who is responsible to make their final arrangements, it can be the most stressful experience of your life. My family recently suffered the loss of our dad and Daniel Symonds- Funeral Director/Owner and his staff made me and my family feel at ease and comfortable. They treated us like they were part of our family. Daniel answered all our phone calls with patience. They took care of everything and were compassionate and very professional. They took the time to understand our sometimes complicated wishes and helped explain decisions we had to make. With respect to the level of service of the Symonds-Madison funeral Home, If I could give them 10 stars I would. On behalf of the Ogunribido Family, Thank You. You made a heartbreaking experience manageable and memorable. I'm sure daddy is smiling in heaven!
Dan and Joy provided excellent service and true compassion throughout a process that we never imagined we’d need.
My husband of 46 years had been battling multiple health problems for years. Still, his death came as a sudden, numbing shock. I'd done virtually no planning for final arrangements, so the hospice nurse's early morning call to Daniel came to him out of the blue. Nevertheless, he was at my house within what seemed like minutes, ready to discuss Bruce's wishes with flawless professionalism and genuine compassion. These wishes, it must be noted, were as unconventional as my husband had been: Among other details, a specific plain pine coffin had to be obtained from 1,300 miles away, and a horse-drawn caisson needed to be hired. Never once did Daniel say "Not possible." He made it all happen, on time, even going so far as to transport the coffin on the final leg of its trip after the freight company dropped the ball. I found Symonds-Madison in a hasty Google search at the most difficult time I'd ever faced. I will forever be grateful that I did.
My older brother recently passed away unexpectedly. Our family was in shock and needed to find a funeral director to help plan his services. We do not live in the Elgin area but wanted to find a funeral home near my brother's house. We called Symonds-Madison based solely on the online reviews and I'm really glad we did. Daniel was so helpful to our family during this terrible time. He explained what we should expect during each step of the process and answered all of our questions patiently. He was very responsive to our needs and always answered our calls and emails promptly. He was even able to accommodate some special requests that made my mother and niece feel more comfortable during the visitation.
Couldn’t be happier with the funeral service. Through these tough times you’ve made it very easy and simple. The owner was very kind and understanding. Thank you for having the Mora-Albarrán family.
I attended the funeral of John James Murphy on Jan 20, 2020. This day will always be in my heart, The day was humbling, emotional and full of love and respect. We were all brought together by a total stranger and left as family. I am sure John Murphy felt the love. I attended with my sister. Like everyone else we did not know what to expect. When we saw all the cars and lines of people it brought tears to our eyes. We talked with several service members, who were touched by the response of community. After paying our respects my sister said "lets move to the back". The only man (Dan) sitting in front row said "why, we are his family" We were honored to sit in front.
The 5 star rating whould be higher if I could 10 out of 10 or higher. I want to express my sincere gratitude for the care and assistance I was given at Symonds Madison funeral home. My lose of my son was sudden unexpected tragic.Symonds Madison was upfront on costs and was very helpful for me through the entire process. After the funeral was over they continue to assist me with paperwork which was over and above what could be expected from any funeral home. Six years before I had lost my wife I used one of the bigger funeral home in elgin and I was anywhere as satisfied.Symonds Madison even help me complete something left to do from six years from my wifes passing. I can thank them enough 10 + stars
Thank you so much for taking the time to make sure everything was the way our family wanted it, for going the extra mile and understanding our unique needs. Your thoughtfulness and kindness are greatly appreciated during our time of grief. Such wonderful and caring people ♡ thank you.
Symonds Madison is a family owned business. The owner and director Daniel lives by the model "Everyone that walks through the door is treated like family." I would give the business and owner Daniel a 10 stars but the highest you can leave is a 5. Our family couldn't be happier with the service you provided us during such a devastating time of loss. You understood our needs and went the extra mile to make sure everything was as perfect as it could of been. Daniel, our family is extremely grateful for the warmth and compassion you all showed us.
