J. David Warren, 95, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away November 13, 2014 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born June 21, 1919 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Bertram and Grace Warren.
Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, very proud of his family. He was an auto mechanic for 30 years, and then maintenance engineer of St. Mary Catholic Church and School, where he was a member since 1951. To his family and friends he was Mr. Fix-it, the man with the tools. Dave was a Purple Heart veteran of WWII. He told many stories of his four years of service in the army, in the European Theater. He had a lifelong love of all kinds of music, especially the big band sound.
He is survived by his children: Cynthia (Michael) Camacho, Michael (Jeanne) Warren, Nita, Donna, and Robert (Sandra) Warren, and eight grandchildren: Tina (Jennifer) Robbins, Vincent (Teresa) Camacho, Victoria Marshall, Dan, Mark, and AJ Wilks, and Matthias and Samantha Warren. He had three great grandchildren, Maliyah Marshall, Evette and Lila Camacho. He is also survived by brother-in-law Paul (Sandy) Klemp and sister-in-law Verona Gage.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Margaret Warren, his parents, and stepfather Daniel Dugan.
Visitation will be Friday, November 21, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, at St Mary Catholic Church, 103 South Gifford, Elgin, IL 60120. Mass will begin at 11:00 am, celebrated by Father Robert Camacho.
