William “Bill” Edward Van Dusen, age 75, of Elgin, IL, passed away on June 23, 2024. He was born August 28, 1948 in Oak Park, IL. Bill was the middle son of Clarence Van Dusen and Sophia Sudeikis. 

Bill earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University (1969) and worked as a computer programmer.  In 1978, Bill married the love of his life, Judy Westerfield, after a chance meeting on a blind date set up by friends. They celebrated 46 wonderful years together in June. Together they raised two children. 

Known for his quiet demeanor and natural curiosity, Bill was a lifelong learner who cherished nature and had a great love for cats. He delighted in telling good dad jokes and was a devoted family man. His hobbies included painting, drawing, reading, bicycling, walking, photography, and woodworking, all of which he pursued with passion and dedication.

Bill's life was a masterpiece, painted with countless small moments and treasured memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

William was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Richard Van Dusen. He is survived by his wife, Judy Van Dusen; children, Erik (Melanie) Van Dusen and Rebecca (Leigh) Van Dusen; siblings, Clare (Christopher) Nobbs, and Ron (Sue) Van Dusen; and grandson, Harrison Van Dusen.

A memorial will be held from 10:00am until funeral service at 11:30am, Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Rev. Tim Perry will be officiating.
