Westeron Stephens III Obituary

Westeron Stephens III, age 77, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 23, 2024. He was born December 11, 1946 in South Bend, IN to his loving parents, Bernadette (née Weis) and Westeron Stephens Jr.


Wes graduated from Deer Park High School, Class of 1964, then attended Ohio University, where he earned a BS in Engineering in 1968. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1970, serving honorably for four years before being discharged in 1974.


During his military service, he earned his MBA from Georgia College in 1974. He then attended the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, IL, earning his doctorate in 1977, and becoming board qualified in orthopedics and certified in ergonomics. He later became a board certified pedorthist through the Milwaukee College of Medicine in 2000.


Wes worked as an engineer for both Hartman Electric in Mansfield, OH and Joy Manufacturing in New Philadelphia, OH from 1966 to 1969. After earning his doctorate in 1977, he worked as a chiropractic physician in Elgin and Carol Stream until 2010. After becoming a board certified pedorthist, he became the owner and creator of Applied Pedorthics in Elgin until 2010. He then worked for Medspeed LLC in Elmhurst for ten years, from 2013 to 2023.


Wes and his wife, Mary Ann, were married on September 25, 1993, and they were happily married for 30 years.


Wes had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a man of integrity, with a strong work ethic and even stronger Christian values. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and Biblical research. He also was a published author. He wrote Osteoporosis – The Natural Guide to Prevention in 1994, and Conversations with Grandpa in 2020.


Wes was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (née Kasa) Stephens; children, Westeron (Heather) Stephens IV and Kimberly (Jason) Lohman; stepchildren, Jeffrey (Anna) Jagielski and Caroline (Jon Cole) Michalek; sister, Beverley (Tim) Massey; grandchildren, Jocelynn (Jacob) Lindstrand, Alison Stephens, Nicholas Stephens, Alexa Lohman, and Amelia Jagielski; great-grandson, Theodore Andrew Lindstrand; cousins, Craig (Leanne) Stephens and Becky (RJ) Noel; and nephews, Christian (Molly) Massey, Dr. Paul (Julie) Kasa, and Steve Kasa.


Visitation will be 12:30pm until funeral service with military honors at 2:30pm, Saturday, June 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church, 1735 W. Highland Avenue, Elgin, IL 60123.  Pastor Greg Huguley will be officiating.


Final interment will be at Ft. Sheridan National Cemetery, Vattman Road, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
