Vivian Eileen Durrenberger, age 83, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 17, 2024. She was born February 14, 1941 in Elgin, IL to her loving parents, William and Dorothy (née Kent) Durrenberger.

Vivian was a lifelong resident of Elgin, IL, born, raised, and educated there. She graduated from Elgin High School, Class of 1961.

Vivian was strong-minded, full of determination, and was not afraid to challenge herself. She was a polio survivor.

Vivian enjoyed crafts, especially ceramics, and was an exceptional seamstress, making her own clothing, as well as ballet costumes. She volunteered at Sherman Hospital, earning a 35-year service award, served as an Election Judge in Kane County for 27 years, volunteered at the Elgin History Museum for 8 years, and was very active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She loved her church and church family.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Durrenberger. She is survived by her siblings, William Kent (Margaret) Durrenberger, Candace June Fowler, and Paul John Durrenberger; nieces, Marcia (Hank) Wilkenson, Susan Hallaman, and Jennifer (Bruce) Ehrenberger; and nephews, William (Helena) Durrenberger, Jeff Fowler, and Scott (Maria) Fowler.

A memorial service will be held from 10:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, June 8, 2024 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 115 N. Spring Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  Pastor Mark Bussert will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
