Teresa Rojas Maravilla, de 59 años de edad, de Elgin, IL, falleció en su casa el 24 de agosto de 2024. Nació en Tlaxcala, Mexico, el 27 de agosto de 1964. Ella fue la primogénita de sus queridos padres, Refugio Rojas y Rosa Maravilla.

Teresa conoció a su esposo, Lázaro, hace 41 años cuando trabajaban en la misma fábrica en Tlaxcala, México. Estuvieron casados ​​durante más de 39 años y habrían celebrado su 40 aniversario en diciembre.

Teresa tenía la maravillosa habilidad de hacer que las personas se sintieran incluidas y cómodas. Siempre hacía reír y sonreír a todos. Su inglés no era el mejor, pero encontraba formas de comunicarse con todos y le gustaba enseñar español a cualquiera que mostrara interés.

A Teresa le encantaban las plantas y las flores, y disfrutaba viajar y pasar tiempo con la familia. En las fiestas, siempre era de las primeras en salir a la pista de baile. Era muy trabajadora y se enorgullecía de su trabajo. Siempre daba un gran ejemplo a los demás.

En casa, Teresa demostraba su amor a través de la comida. Siempre estaba cocinando o planeando qué cocinar, especialmente sus platos favoritos. Llenaba los platos de todos y luego ofrecía más incluso antes de que terminaran el primero. Quería asegurarse de que todos tuvieran más que suficiente. Quería eso especialmente para sus hijos. Quería que tuvieran más de lo que ella tuvo cuando era niña y se esforzaba por darles una vida mejor. Su amor como madre era indescriptible.

A Teresa le sobreviven su esposo, Lázaro; sus hijos, Anabel, María y Yancy; su madre, Rosa; sus hermanos, Miguel, Tiburcio, Felipa, Silbestre y Elia; dos nietas; y una gran familia numerosa.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el viernes 6 de septiembre de 2024, de 5 p.m. a 9 p.m. en Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, localizado en: 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

La misa será el sábado 7 de septiembre de 2024, a las 8:00 a.m. en la iglesia católica St. Joseph, localizada en: 270 Division Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Monseñor Arquímedes Vallejo oficiará la ceremonia.

Teresa Rojas Maravilla, age 59, of Elgin, IL, passed away at home on August 24, 2024. She was born August 27, 1964 in Tlaxcala, Mexico. She was the firstborn to her loving parents, Refugio Rojas and Rosa Maravilla.

Teresa met her husband, Lazaro, 41 years ago when they were working in the same factory in Tlaxcala, Mexico. They were married for over 39 years, and would’ve celebrated their 40th anniversary in December.

Teresa had the wonderful ability to make people feel included and comfortable. She always had everyone laughing and smiling. Her English was not the best, but she found ways to communicate with everyone, and liked to teach Spanish to anyone that showed interest.

Teresa loved plants and flowers, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. At parties, she was always among the first to get on the dance floor. She was a hard worker and took pride in her work. She always set a great example for others.

At home, Teresa showed her love with food. She was always either cooking or planning what to cook, especially favorite meals. She would fill everyone’s plate with food, and then offer more even before they were finished with the first plateful. She wanted to make sure everyone had more than enough. She especially wanted that for her children. She wanted them to have more than she did growing up, and strived to give them a better life. Her love as a mother was beyond description.

Teresa is survived by her husband, Lazaro; children, Anabel, Maria, and Yancy; mother, Rosa ; siblings, Miguel, Tiburcio, Felipa, Silbestre, and Elia; two granddaughters; and a large extended family.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday, September 6, 2024, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Mass will be at 8:00am, Saturday, September 7, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 270 Division Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Monsignor Arquimedes Vallejo will be officiating.

Visitation will continue from 10:00am to 11:00am, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
