Robert Joseph Ortiz Sr., age 83, of Carpentersville, IL, passed away on July 25, 2023. He was born May 11, 1940 in Chicago, IL to his loving parents, Joseph Ortiz and Josephine Saenz.

Robert grew up in the Angel Guardian Orphanage. He worked as a butcher for many years, and later in life, worked for the school district as a custodian.

Robert had a strong love of music, and taught his family to appreciate Motown, and 50’s and 60’s music. He loved playing poker with his family. He enjoyed holidays and family gatherings. He was a big fan of the 1985 Chicago Bears, and also enjoyed cheering at his sons' football games and wrestling matches.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Elizabeth. He survived by his children, Joseph, Robert, Mark, Angelina, Jeff (adopted), and Kayla; stepchildren, Pino, Julie, and Joey; siblings, Richard, Yolanda, Dolores, Frank, Salvador, Gloria, Beatrice, Patricia, and Rosalie; grandchildren, Michelle, Micheal, Joshua, Jenny, Carol, Olivia, Mason, Chaz, Zoey, Madeline, Aubrey, and Claire; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Visitation Catholic Church, 779 S. York Street, Elmhurst, IL 60126.

Interment to follow at 11:30am at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, IL 60162
