Raquel Stahr, age 69, of Huntley, IL, passed away on June 1, 2023. She was born January 22, 1954 in Mercedes, TX to her loving parents, Horacio and Guadalupe (née Garcia) Ramirez.

Raquel graduated from Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL, Class of 1972. She held several jobs during her lifetime, but her favorite was working as an interior decorator/stager of model homes, which she did for over eight years, partnered with her best friend, Kathy Mattox.

Raquel met her husband Leroy at a bar. They wed in 1982, and were married for 41 wonderful years.

Raquel was very bubbly and always had a big, beautiful smile. She was always ready to help where needed, whether it was moping the floors at the local VFW, or distributing clothes to veterans.

Raquel loved to cook, and had a large collection of cookbooks. She believed that if a cookbook had at least two good recipes, it was a good purchase! She also enjoyed gambling for fun, and traveling throughout the USA and Europe, and to all the Carribean countries.

One of her husband’s favorite memories is from about ten years ago. Together they went to a car dealership to buy him a car, but it was she who walked out that day with a set of keys to her favorite new toy, a cute little red convertible.

Raquel was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Stahr; daughter, Brianna (Benjamin) Young; brothers, Ramiro and Lionel; sisters, Yolanda, Maria, Esmerelda, Maribel, and Rose; grandchildren, Declan and Jace; aunts, Sarah and Aurelia; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with funeral service at 7:00pm, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Visitation will continue from 11:00am to 12:00pm, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120, followed by procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421, for interment at 2pm.
