Peter John Lopez

Peter John Lopez, age 56, of Elgin, IL, passed away on April 9, 2023. He was born May 30, 1966 in Elgin, IL to his loving parents, Ismael and Olga (née Padua) Lopez.

Peter graduated from Farragut High School. He worked in distribution for 30 years, and was an avid chef, well know for his barbecue.

Peter was dedicated and hard working, never missing a work day. He was funny, charismatic, courteous, and generous, always ready to help anyone in need. He enjoyed outdoor grilling and barbecuing, and especially loved cooking for his family.

Peter was a baseball fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox, attending games whenever he could. He was so happy when the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016, and the Boston Red Sox won in 2018. But the biggest highlights of his life were the births of his four children.

Peter was preceded in death by his father, Ismael Lopez; sister, Nancy Lopez; and daughter, Alyssa Lopez. He is survived by his children, Enrique Lopez, Peter John Lopez, and Alex Guyette; mother, Olga Lopez; siblings, Alexander Lopez, Stevie Lopez, David Lopez, Jesse Lopez, and Angelo Vega; grandchildren, Anthony, Alexiana, Savannah, Isabella, Mya, and Julian; aunts, Norma, Rosie, and Yolanda; uncle, Eddie; cousins, Efron Lopez and Rosa Lopez; and nieces and nephews, Alexandria Lopez, Joey Lopez, and Vianeese Lopez.

Visitation will be 4:00pm until funeral service at 7:00pm, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Chris Kuhn will be officiating.
