Michael David Chavez Obituary
Michael David Chavez, age 63, of Elgin, IL, passed away on March 29, 2026. He was born November 1, 1962 in Albuquerque, NM to his loving parents, David and Dorothy (née Whissenant) Chavez.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in business and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. After his military service, he built a career as a retail contract manager, where his strong work ethic and practical sense earned the respect of colleagues and peers alike.
Above all, Michael will be remembered for the way he showed up for the people he loved. He was a caring and nurturing father and grandfather who took great pride in his family. He had a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor and a natural ability to make others laugh, often lightening the mood with a well-timed joke.
Michael found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing and camping, especially the many weekends spent with his son at Condit’s Ranch, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. He also enjoyed the thrill of a good find, whether browsing Goodwill or exploring garage sales for hidden deals. Most of all, he valued quality time with his son and grandson—moments filled with laughter, stories, and quiet connection.
Michael’s hardworking spirit, humor, and deep love for his family will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Michael is survived by his son, Wesley (Mikayla) Chavez; and grandson, Gaige Chavez.
