Marvin Wayne Causey Obituary
Elder Marvin Wayne Causey, age 69, of South Elgin, Illinois, passed away on March 2, 2026. He was born on July 4, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of the late Roosevelt Causey and Reverend Connie Mae (née Young) Causey. He grew up on the West Side of Chicago, where his early life experiences helped shape the powerful testimony he would later share with so many.
After moving to Elgin, Illinois, Marvin became a dedicated and faithful worker. He was employed for many years at Mattwaters Chemical Company, where he provided for his family and built lasting relationships. He also worked for Enterprise. Marvin accepted Christ and joined Bethesda Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor James Marks. In time, he answered the call to ministry. He attended the Charles Harrison Mason Bible College and was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ.
After his ordination, Marvin went out into the field, drawing others through Soul winning ministry. He later served as Co Pastor at Outreach Ministry, where he faithfully shared the Gospel through both word and deed. After completing his assignment there, he returned to his home church under the leadership of Dr. Cedric R. Simmons. Even through illness, Marvin faithfully sent out a daily word of encouragement to uplift the hearts of men and women.
Marvin truly loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. Outreach ministry was not just something he did; it was who he was. He often testified about how the Lord delivered him from a life of drugs and crime. He boldly shared with anyone who would listen how good God had been to him and assured them that God would do the same for them if they accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.
In addition to his church service, Marvin served for many years as a chaplain at Kane County Jail in Geneva, Illinois. There he ministered to those who were incarcerated, offering hope, prayer, and the message of new life in Christ.
Marvin desired to be remembered for his service to the Lord. He would often quote 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." He was grateful to serve as a soldier in the Army of the Lord.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Reverend Connie Mae Causey; his grandson, Malik Causey; two brothers, Michael and Marrett Causey; two sisters, Miranda and Michelle Causey; and his son-in-law, Brandon Bickerstaff.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Maurice (Brittany) Causey of Chicago, Illinois, and Marquis Causey of Elgin, Illinois; seven daughters, Marvita Causey of Waterloo, lowa, Monique Causey of Indiana, Martina (Dewon) Johnson of Naperville, Illinois, Renia Thomas Bickerstaff of Chicago, Illinois, Marcella Causey of Chicago, Illinois, Charlene Causey of South Elgin, Illinois, and Keisha Forbes of St. Charles, Illinois; three sisters, Thelma Young of Elgin, Illinois, Marilyn (Gary Sr.) Neal of Gainesville, Florida, and Merline Causey of Waterloo, lowa; one brother, Michael (Jessica) Causey of Elgin, Illinois; twenty-four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, the Bethesda Church family, the Outreach family, and all whose lives were touched by his testimony, compassion, and unwavering faith.
