Lylas Irene Richoz, age 92, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 3, 2025. She was born August 31, 1932 in Elgin, IL to her loving parents, Leonard and Irene (née Hopp) Genz.
Lylas was a big believer in living life to the fullest. Her family always came first. Whenever anyone needed help, she was always there in minutes.
Lylas took care of her husband, Richard Richoz, for many years until his passing in 1992. She then cared for her daughter, Sharon Richoz, until her passing in 2019. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Smith; and brother, Robert Genz.
Lylas is survived by her three remaining children, Carol Wendt, David Richoz, and Scott Richoz; her daughter-in-law that she loved like her own, Cindy Laudermilk; and her main partner in crime son-in-law, Donald Lee Wendt. They enjoyed having a drink together, rode camels, flew in helicopters, and traveled all over the United States with family.
Lylas is also survived by four grandchildren, William Wendt, Jessica Wendt, Rebecca (Mike) Dworak, and Donald Chester Wendt; six great-grandchildren (blessings whom she adored), Johnny Hamilton, Hailey Dworak, Jaime Hamilton, Leslie Hamilton, Tommy Wendt, and Steven Wendt; her one remaining sibling, Phyllis Doss in Colorado; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Interment will be private.
