Juanita Hinton, age 80, a longtime resident of Elgin, Il entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born January 25, 1944, in Carrollton, Alabama to her loving parents Katherine Ferguson and John Hinton, and spent her formative years there. She was a woman of strong and unwavering faith, who gave her life to the Lord at a young age. Juantia believed in the power of forgiving, redemption, and compassion.

Juanita graduated from Pickens County Training school in 1963. Following graduation, she moved to Elgin, IL and entered the nursing profession at Saint Joseph Hospital, where she worked for forty years. She possessed a true passion for nursing, and her kindness, patience, caring and generosity made Juanita an excellent nurse.

Juanita was called by several names: Mom, Grandma Neata, Neat, Skeet, and Sweet Skeet and she was loved by everyone that called her those names. Juantia was a devoted Mother to Dwight, Preston, and Steve Hinton.

Juanita’s love and memories will forever be cherished by her sons, Dwight Hinton of Elgin, Preston (Christener) Hinton of Chicago, and Steve (Lena) Hinton of Mather, CA; her brothers, Emmett (Odester) Latham of Carrollton, AL and Richard Hersey of Elgin, IL; her sisters, Gloria (Roosevelt) Ellis of Pingree Grove, IL and Patricia Little of Reform, AL; three grandchildren, Julius Hinton of Elgin, and Gabrielle and Sierra Hinton of Mather, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Juantia was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Claudia Westbrook and David Hersey.

A memorial will be held from 10:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Pastor Andrea Johnson-William will be officiating.
