Josephine Marie Santana, age 88, of Elgin, IL, passed away on April 15, 2023. She was born December 2, 1934 in San Diego, CA.

Josephine worked as a customer service representative for the Internal Revenue Service. She met her husband, Joe, at the 212 Club, and they were married for 31 years before his passing in 2017.

Josephine was the most wonderful cook.  Every year at Christmastime, she made tamales and cookies for all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, especially mysteries.

Josephine didn’t let any obstacles get in her way, and she had very strong opinions which she freely shared.  Loved ones will remember her outgoing personality and independent spirit.  Her grandchildren especially appreciated how she pass that independent nature onto them.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Santana; daughter, Jean; and son, Charles. She is survived by her children, Octavia, Juliet, John, Victoria, Claude, and Leonard; and over 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service and interment will be private.
