Jeffrey Charles Spencer

Jeffrey Charles Spencer, age 56, of Elgin, IL, passed away on January 4, 2023.  He was born March 31, 1966 in Elgin, IL to his loving parents, Charles Spencer and Linda (née Hagen) Whitney.

Jeff graduated from Elgin High School, Class of 1986.  He worked at the Jewel on Larkin Avenue for over 15 years.  He was known for his great sense of humor, and he loved to joke around with everyone.  Many Jewel customers would go out of their way to find Jeff just to say "Hi!" and get a little joking around in.  He was greatly loved for his caring attitude.

Jeff loved riding his bike all over town.  He participated in the Elgin Special Olympics, and was on a bowling league at Bowlway Lanes.

Jeff had a strong passion for collecting unique knives and swords.  He was an avid Cubs fan, and he also enjoyed watching old movies and TV Land.  He especially loved the Three Stooges.

Jeff had many challenges throughout his lifetime, but he always pushed through because of his caring heart, strong determination, and the support of his family.  His greatest joy was to be surrounded by his family, his cat Penny and his bearded dragon Drake.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Charles Spencer; and his maternal grandparents, Harold and Aurelia Hagen.  He is survived by his mother, Linda Whitney; siblings, Rita (Gary Bell) Spencer, Suzie (Chris) Demery, Chad (Anna) Spencer, Charles (Olivia) Spencer, Christopher (Samantha) Spencer, Shane (Morgan) Seaman, and Suzanne (Lance) Wirth; aunts and uncles, Arneda (Jack) Groesser, Bonnie Spencer, John (Polly) Spencer, and Doreen Hagen; nieces and nephews, Samantha Gray, Joshua Whitney, Harley Demery, and Jordan Demery; great-niece, Mariah Taylor; great-nephews, Grayson Taylor and Alex Whitney; and many beloved cousins.

Visitation will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm, with prayers at 6:00pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Funeral service will be 11:00am, Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Rev. Kevin Ader will be officiating.
