Gregg Steven Cariello, age 63, of Elgin, IL, passed away on April 29, 2025. He was born March 29, 1962 in Chicago, IL to his loving parents, Anthony and Carol (née Rakow) Cariello.

Gregg graduated from Irving Crown High School, Class of 1980. He then joined the United States Navy, serving as an engineman aboard the USS Constant. He earned the Battle E Award, and was honorably discharged in 1983.

Gregg and his wife, Mary, were married 28 years. He had a strong work ethic and was very protective and caring.

Gregg was a gamer, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and remote car racing. In his younger days, he enjoyed motorcross. To personify Gregg, watch the movie, “Gran Torino.”

Gregg was preceded in death by his parents; and older sister, Corinne. He is survived by his wife, Mary Cariello; brother, Chris Cariello; and nephew, Nick Cariello.

Interment with military honors will take place at 11:00am, Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Ft. Sheridan National Cemetery, Vattman Road, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
