Flora Mae Wright was born on October 21, 1932 in Greenwood, MS, the eldest daughter of Turner Wright and Everlena Gordon Wright.  On December 3, 2025, at the age of 93, Flora received her wings and now sings songs of Praise and Worship in God's heavenly choir.

Growing up in Greenwood, MS, Flora was an avid churchgoer and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

After graduating from Froebel High School in Greenwood, Flora moved to Elgin, IL.  In 1966, she joined Second Baptist Church of Elgin under the leadership of the late Pastor T.E. Bedford.  Flora was a soloist in the Senior Choir.  She was requested to sing at many churches throughout the Elgin area for many special events, where she was accompanied by Josephine Bailey, Jaynita Wise, and the late Charlotta Clark.  Flora was also a member of the Willing Workers Club and was chairperson of several Church and Pastor anniversaries.

Flora shared a special bond with Sammie and Lindberg Echols, spanning over 50 years.  From this inseparable bond, the title of Special Sister and Aunt was bestowed upon her with love.

Although Flora had no biological children, she was an aunt and mother figure to many.  In her spare time, Flora enjoyed singing and spending time with her family and friends.

Upon moving to Elgin, Flora was employed by various companies.  She worked for Sears Roebuck and Company, Illinois Tool Works, First Card, and Carson Pirie Scott.  She took pride in her work, as well as in being a caring and helpful employee.

Flora was preceded in death by her parents, Turner and Everlena Wright.  She leaves, to cherish her memory, sisters, Dorothy (Leroy) Jennette and Sheila Hayes; special sister, Janita Wise; special cousins, Jody Hart and Georgia Bennett; nieces, DeAngeles (Clemon Sr.) McCullough, KaShonia Haynes, and Qiana Haynes; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be 10:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Friday, December 12, 2025, at Second Baptist Church of Elgin, 1280 Summit Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
