Donald Louis Meyer, age 73, of Elgin, IL, passed away on September 2, 2022. He was born April 16, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI to his loving parents, Donald P. and Josephine (née Rozman) Meyer.
Don graduated from high school in 1968. He joined the United States Navy in 1969, and served just over four years during the Vietnam war before being honorably discharged in 1973.
After his military service, Don earned a bachelors degree. He worked for AAA Motor Service until his retirement in 2009.
Don and Micheline England were together since 1985, and were married on November 1, 2010 at a cat show in Reno, NV. The wedding party included tuxedo cat Wrigley as the best man, and their daughter Marianne as the maid of honor.
Don enjoyed music and vinyl records, movies, reading war history, and watching the Food Network. He loved animals, especially cats. He had major "Dad" humor, always ready with a bad pun or corny joke. When answering the phone and being asked, "Is this the person to whom I am speaking?" he was ready with his favorite response ... "No, I'm a figment of your imagination!"
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Micheline England; parents, Donald P. and Josephine Meyer; and siblings, Dorothy and Louis. He is survived by his daughter, Marianne England; and cousin, Steve Meyer.
