Charles Hezekiah Bennett, age 74, of Elgin, IL, passed away on September 24, 2023. He was born July 21, 1949 in Jackson, MS to his loving mother, Clara Mae Harris (née Wood).

Charles attended Hershey’s School and Devry University. He joined the United States Army in 1969 and served two years before being honorably discharged and joining the Army Reserves. He worked in electronics and IT for NRC Electronics, retiring after 8 years of service.

Charles met Jennifer Ludwig through CB radio groups. They were together for 28 years.

Charles was an early bird, thanks to his military service. He loved his family, and was especially proud when his son was born in July, 2000. He took his role as protector of the family very seriously, cooking, cleaning, and keeping up with the bills. He was a very good provider.

Charles was an awesome man of God and the Bible, and focused his attentions on God, family, and his country.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Mae Harris. He is survived by his significant other, Jennifer Rene Ludwig; son, Zackery Hezekiah Bennett; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with funeral service at 7:00pm, Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Michael Murschel will be officiating.
