Cesar Vazquez Figueroa, age 76, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 22, 2026. He was born November 3, 1949 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico to his loving parents, Jose Vazquez and Asunción Figueroa.

Cesar will be remembered as a man of many talents, interests, and passions whose curiosity and creativity touched every part of his life. Born in Puerto Rico, he moved to the United States at the age of 18, beginning a new chapter filled with opportunity, family, and lasting memories. Shortly after arriving, he met and married Yolanda Leiva, and together they welcomed twin daughters in 1973. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, Cesar remained devoted to his family throughout his life. On May 6, 1983, he married Norma DeJesus, with whom he shared many meaningful years before her passing.

Cesar was a man who truly enjoyed learning and creating. He loved playing chess and was always ready for a good match, appreciating both the challenge and strategy of the game. He also found joy in cooking, experimenting with soap-making, growing plants, and exploring countless other hobbies and interests. His wide range of passions reflected his thoughtful nature and his desire to keep discovering new things.

Those who knew Cesar will remember his independent spirit, his creativity, and the way he brought enthusiasm into the things he loved most. He leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Cesar was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Norma DeJesus; and ten siblings. He is survived by his daughters, Jennie (Matt Stevenson) Burgos and Jessie (Joseph) Goodall, and their mother, Yolanda Leiva; siblings, Norma Vazquez, Jorge Vazquez, and Noemi Vazquez; grandchildren, Evan Burgos, Meissa Chevalier, Tiffany Burgos, Adriana Goodall, Benjamin Goodall, Corinne Goodall; and great-grandchildren, Aiden, Athena, Leelah, and Cruz.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday, May 29, 2026, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Visitation will continue from 10:00am to 11:30am, Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
