With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Cassandria Lee Walker Hill, age 74, of Elgin, IL, who departed this life on November 8, 2025. Born October 6, 1951 in Carbondale, IL to her loving parents, Sylvester and Mary Magdalene (née Gibson) Walker, Cassandria became a devoted wife, a loving and protective mother, a proud grandmother, and a loyal friend whose warmth touched everyone blessed to know her.
Cassandria’s life was defined by love—love for her family, love for her community, and love for helping others. She was a God-fearing woman whose faith guided her words, her actions, and the compassion she showed daily. She had a gentle spirit and a comforting presence, always knowing how to uplift and encourage those around her. Her kindness, strength, and grace filled every room she entered.
Cassandria was the heart and soul of her family—the glue that held everyone together. She proudly carried on family traditions, and every holiday was hosted in her home, where she welcomed everyone with open arms. Her kitchen was her sanctuary, and she shared her love through her meals. Every Sunday, there was always something cooking on the stove, and her MEAN sweet potato pie was famous—unmatched and unforgettable.
Her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren. She poured her heart into raising them, guiding them, and celebrating each milestone along the way. Her grandchildren—Julian, Nariah, Raniya, Kamryn, Kaydence, Elijah, Antoine, Antonio, Brandon, and Zayvion—were her pride and joy, and she cherished each one deeply.
Cassandria is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Mary M. Walker; her grandson, Antoine; and two brothers, Sylvester Jr. and Dean Otis Walker.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 28 years, Elbert Hill (Elgin, IL); her sons, Thomas Freeney (Elgin, IL) and Antoine Walker Sr. (Avoca, NE); two sisters, Mary A. Mayfield (Tyler, TX) and Wanda F. Walker (Elgin, IL); and one brother, Daniel C. (Katy) Walker (Houston, TX). She also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors who loved her dearly and will forever feel the impact of her presence.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Cassandria’s legacy—her faith, her generosity, her traditions, her unforgettable cooking, and the love she poured into everyone around her—will continue to shine brightly through those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and eternally cherished.
