Betty Ann Span

Betty Ann Span, age 61, of Elgin, IL, passed away on August 30, 2023. She was born January 4, 1962 in Forrest City, AR to her loving parents, Earlie and Ollie Mae (née Cannon) Span.

Betty graduated from Elgin High School, and worked for Motorola.

Betty was very loving and caring, a mother to everyone. She was the matriarch of the family, and the glue that held everyone together. She was selfless and giving, always shopping for other people, and serving her community. She loved church, and she was loved by many.

Betty enjoyed cooking and baking, as was especially well known for her amazing lemon glaze cakes. She was very stylish and fashionable, and was always dressed to impress. Loved ones will fondly remember her beautiful smile, and her love for them.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alan Lane Span; sister, Barbara Ann Span; and nephew, Travis Span. She is survived by her sons, Jemiren Span and Lemont Span; and siblings, Diane Span, Darlene Span-Blalark, Jimmy Lee Gibson, Earlie “Main” Span, William (Denise) Iron, Stephanie Brooks, Roshawn Adams, Gloria Giles, Hazel Span, and special brother, Larry Crain.

Visitation will be 9:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Second Baptist Church of Elgin, 1280 Summit Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Pastor Patrick E. Parks will be officiating.

Interment will be private.
