Ronald “Ron” E. Kastner, 77, of Algonquin, passed away June 26, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Chicago. Ron was born in Chicago January 27, 1943 to his loving mother Dorothy Paus.
Ron was an only child who was raised by his grandmother “Noni” in Chicago after his mother passed away when he was seven years old.
After being introduced by her brother, Ron shared 56 loving years of marriage with his dear wife, Toni. Together they raised three children.
Ron was a consummate “Car Guy.” For his entire life he worked in parts departments, ultimately retiring from Lattof Chevrolet in Arlington Heights, IL.
Ron’s passion was classic cars. He enjoyed participating in classic car shows and cruise nights. Throughout his life he owned many vintage makes and models, including his 1969 Chevelle, 1967 Chevelle, 1969 Camaro, 1961 Bonneville Convertible, and 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible, among others.
He also loved watching the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Blackhawks. One of his special memories was being present for his grandson’s birth due to the White Sox play-off game being played on the television in the same room.
Loved ones will remember Ron as stubborn and a bit rough on the outside, but those who knew him best knew he had a big heart underneath that tough exterior. He was a fierce defender of his family and incredibly devoted to Toni.
Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife, Antoinette “Toni” Kastner; his mother, Dorothy; and many close friends who were like family.
Ron is survived by his loving children, Ronald F. Kastner, Michele (Russell Kirkpatrick) Kastner, Denise (Andrew Carter) Kastner; and grandchildren Ronald C., Tyler, Jacqueline, Jacob, Emily and Ryan.
