Zoran Filipac, age 61, of Elgin, IL, returned peacefully to the Lord on April 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 23, 1964 in Varazdin, Croatia to Stjepan and Darinka (née Flegar) Filipac.
Zoran was a committed and beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his cherished wife of 35 years, Suzana; four children, Ana (Richard), Lucy (Karim), Nikola (Nicole), and Luka; two grandchildren, Julian and Sofia, with three more on the way; sisters, Dunja and Sonja; nephew, Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His life was a steady witness of love, care and gentle guidance, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Monday, May 4, 2026, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Mass will be at 10:30am, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at St. Mary Church of Elgin, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Bruce Ludeke will be officiating.
Rite of committal and interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1001 Villa Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Afterwards, there will be a luncheon at The Loft of Elements Preserved, 51 S. Spring Street, Loft 125 A, Elgin, IL 60120.
