Young Im Kim, age 77, of South Elgin, IL, lovingly known by her nickname “Ji Yun,” passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, surround by her family. She was born on September 20, 1948, in South Korea, to her late parents, Tae Jin Kang and Sun Duk Moon.

On July 1, 1967, Young married the love of her life, Ken Ok Hyung Kim, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 58 years filled with love, devotion, and family. Together they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and kindness.

Young is survived by her husband, Ken, her daughter Linda Fennell, and her son Jeffrey Kim. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nathan Kim, Braedyn Kim, and Gavin Fennell, who brought her immense joy and laughter.

She is preceded in death by her siblings: Chang Woo Kang, Jeong Im Kang, Han Gil Kang, and Young Ja An.

Young will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the deep love she held for her family. She especially cherished moments spent with her grandchildren, whose accomplishments and happiness were her greatest pride. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and enduring strength will continue to live on through the family she nurtured and the lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Young’s honor on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Village Squire, 125 Washington Street, Dundee, IL 60118.

Interment will be private

Young was an ovarian cancer and stroke survivor whose perseverance inspired all who knew her.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Young’s memory to United Stroke Alliance, or Unite for HER (Breast and Ovarian Cancer Support).
