Yolanda Silva Sanchez, age 78, of Elgin, IL, passed away on October 18, 2024. She was born January 10, 1946 in Devine, TX to her loving parents, Juan Silva and Guadalupe Herrera.
Yolanda attended school through 9th grade at Uvalde High School in Texas. She was hardworking, and worked as a machine operator at a warehouse. She was married to Simon P. Sanchez, and though they later separated, they remained distant friends.
Yolanda was very funny and had a great sense of humor. Her heart was kind, and her spirit was fierce. She ruled with an iron fist, but was gentle, too. She was the type of woman who would look you in the eyes and tell you, “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.” Then she would tell a joke!
Yolanda enjoyed watching scary movies and Mexican soap operas (novelas). In her younger days, she enjoyed going out dancing.
Yolanda is survived by her daughters, Sandra Sanchez and Isabel Sanchez; siblings, Gloria Silva, David Silva, and Odelia Arredondo; grandchildren, Juan S. Sanchez, Jose Barrera, Diana Deangel, Caroline Varela, and Cesar Delangel; and cousins, Jimmy Herrera Jr, Joseph C. Herrera, and Jackie Herrera Rivera.
