Victor Castillo Vega Obituary

Victor Castillo Vega, age 76, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 21, 2026. He was born September 9, 1949 in Mexico City, Mexico to his loving parents, Alfonso Castillo and Consuelo Vega.

Victor peacefully left this world leaving behind a legacy of faith, wisdom, love, and inspiration. He graduated as an attorney at law in 1983 from Universidad del Valle de México and went on to build a remarkable career as an attorney, legal scholar, and professor. He taught at two of Mexico’s most prestigious institutions, Tecnológico de Monterrey and Universidad del Valle de México, where his intellect, discipline, and passion for education inspired countless students throughout the years. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Victor was also a devoted pastor at Christ Gospel Church, where he faithfully served and touched many lives through his preaching, guidance, and unwavering faith.

Victor shared 56 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Olivia. Their love story began on June 2, 1970, when they met at a party and instantly fell in love at first sight — a bond that remained strong throughout their lives together. He will be remembered for his remarkable sense of humor, vibrant personality, and joyful spirit. A true jokester and often the life of the party, Victor loved dancing at family gatherings and bringing laughter to those around him. He possessed a brilliant mind and was known by many as a “walking encyclopedia,” admired for both his intelligence and his wisdom.

A gifted artist and devoted family man, Victor found great joy in painting, drawing, music, chess, and, above all, spending time with his family. He was a master chess player whose love for the game became one of the many ways he connected with his grandchildren. Some of the family’s most treasured memories are of Victor playing with his grandchildren, teaching them how to play chess, painting alongside them, and sharing moments filled with love and learning. His creativity, kindness, faith, and brilliance left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him. Victor will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by his family, friends, students, and all whose lives he touched.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Olivia Castillo; children, Victor Alejandro Castillo, Perla Epps, Paloma Greer, and Alondra Ruiz; siblings, Alfonso Castillo and Patricia Castillo; grandchildren, Alex, Kafar, Lexi, Kiahno,  Sasha, Loren, Joshua, Roman, Italia, and Rory; and nieces and nephews, Juan Alfonso, Luis Antonio, and Mariné.
