Teodora Vicencio, age 87, of Elgin, IL, passed away on August 15, 2024. She was born April 1, 1937 in Mexico to her loving parents, Apolino Vicencio and Anselma Sigala.

Teodora was very hardworking, and provided for her children. She was always happy, and always caring, making sure everyone was fed. She was always cooking and cleaning for her family.

She enjoyed sewing, doing word searches, and watching her novelas. She loved spending time with her family. When her children were younger, she would take them to the drive-in movies, then make them get out of the car when they were too loud! On the weekends, she would take them to Rockford to get a hamburger at Geri’s.

When her grandchildren came along, Teodora enjoyed taking them to swim in the creek at Lord’s Park, or loading them up into her station wagon to drive to her parents' house in Rockford, or to Uncle Jesse’s house to swim. And she loved playing Loteria with the kids, playing for candy.

Teodora was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Lucia Villegas and Blanca Estella Rodriguez; and siblings, Chon Vicencio, Jose Vicencio, Antonio Vicencio, Maria Blake, and Celerina Gonzales.

She is survived by her children, Antonio Guzman, Domingo (Gloria) Guzman, Teresa Guzman, Lupe Guzman, Joel (Marivel) Guzman, and Noel (Dina) Guzman; siblings, Maria Fessenden, Lupe Castro, and Jesse Vicencio; 27 grandchildren; and over 60 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with funeral service at 7:30pm, Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Robert Camacho will be officiating.

Interment will be private.
