Sammy Lee Wilkins

Sammy Lee Wilkins, age 73, of Elgin, IL, passed away on August 15, 2023. He was born March 29, 1950 in Coldwater, MS to his loving parents, George and Mary (née White) Wilkins.

Sammy met his wife, Yvette, when they were both living in the same apartment building. They were married for 20 years.

Sammy loved to travel, and took many trips by both car and bus rides. He was a deacon at his church, and dearly loved the Lord.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; five brothers; and two daughters, Cynthia Cooper and Dominique Samarappulige. He is survived by his wife, Yvette Wilkins; sons, Tommy Cooper and Willie Wilkins; daughters, Ella Cooper and Samantha Wilkins; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be 10:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Elgin Bethesda Church of God in Christ, 454 Hickory Place, Elgin, IL 60120. Pastor Dr. Cedric Simmons will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
