Ronald Francis Zionts

Ronald Francis Zionts, age 92, of Elgin, IL, passed away on April 12, 2026. He was born September 11, 1933 in Cicero, IL to his loving parents, Frank and Catherine (née Lawniczak) Zionts.

Ronald proudly served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Ordnance Corps and was honorably discharged in 1964. He earned degrees from both University of Illinois and DePaul University and began his professional career at Western Electric in Cicero, Illinois, later continuing with Sears, Roebuck & Co., where he remained until his retirement.

Ronald shared 52 years of marriage with his wife, Beatrice.

He was an avid reader and a familiar, friendly face at his local YMCA, where he worked out daily and was proud to be among its oldest active members. Ronald found great joy in staying active and engaged, inspiring those around him with his discipline and spirit.

In his later years, Ronald surprised his family by going out of his way to create lasting memories—whether traveling eight hours to surprise his oldest granddaughter on her birthday or making the journey from Texas to the Chicagoland area to spend time with his youngest daughter. Ronald and Beatrice also cherished three special years living in sweltering South Texas, where they were able to be close to and enjoy time with their grandchildren.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Zionts; daughters, Valerie (Enrique) Uria and Victoria Zionts; grandchildren, Vanessa (Randy) Carter, Daniella Uria, and David Uria; and beloved cats, Jack and Jill.

Interment will be private.
