Rolando A. Salvanera, Sr. Obituary

On November 8, 2023, Rolando A. Salvanera, Sr. returned to his heavenly home, where he was reunited with his beloved wife, Rufina. Born in Manila, Philippines, in July 1932, Rolando was the third child of Estabon and Lorenza Salvanera. As a young man, he and his family lived through the challenges of the Japanese occupation during World War II.

After earning his degree from Feati Institute of Technology (now Feati University), Rolando was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Philippine Air Force. Budgetary constraints redirected his ambitions from flight training to the emerging field of Data Processing and Information Technology, eventually retiring as a Senior Systems Analyst with Ameritech.

Together, Rolando and Rufina raised four sons—Steve, Rolan, Rolando Jr., and Noel. The family initially relocated to Newfoundland, Canada, before eventually establishing their home in Streamwood, IL.

Rolando is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rufina. He leaves behind a legacy carried on by his surviving sons—Steve (and wife Rita), Rolan (and wife Tonya), Rolando Jr. (and wife Eleanor), and Noel (and wife Becky). His memory is further cherished by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Rolando’s life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at St. Mary Church of Elgin, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, IL 60120. As a tribute to Rolando, the honorary pallbearers include Steven Salvanera, Dylan Salvanera, Michael Salvanera, Christian Salvanera, Anthony Salvanera, and Jacob Bush.

Rolando will be interred privately at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1001 Villa Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
