Robert “Bob” James Wade, age 61, of McHenry, IL, passed away on October 26, 2024. He was born April 27, 1963 in Elgin, IL to his loving parents, William and Joy (née Sportsman) Wade.
Bob worked as supervisor and trainer at Kavo Dental Supply for many years, a job he was very proud of. He later worked as a machinist at a few different companies. Although Bob was a hardworking man, he was also quite the prankster. One memorable feat was when he shrink-wrapped a co-worker’s car!
Bob loved his family very much. He especially worried about his mother and would often be seen fixing things around her house. He was a jungle gym to the younger children. There was a lot of laughter as they climbed on him and he loved it, too. Bob was an animal lover and he truly loved his dog, Louie, taking long walks with him along the Fox River in McHenry. When he was young, Bob had a beanbag frog named Greenie. Greenie went everywhere with him. It became a tradition for the family to always give him a new frog toy or a frog Christmas ornament.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, William Robert Wade. He is survived by his mother, Joy Lee Wade; siblings, Debra (Stan) Turski, Bonnie Potter, and Holly (Ron) Rieckhoff; former wife, Sharlene Wade; nine grandchildren; cousin, Tina (Vince) Perez; six nieces and two nephews; and four great-nieces and eight great-nephews.
Interment will be private.
Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home. For more information, call 847-741-1128.
Edited to add: Bob’s mother, Joy Lee Wade, passed on February 13, 2025. Bob’s ashes will be laid to rest with her on March 7, 2025 at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
