Rachel Luna Pedroza, age 64, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 15, 2022. She was born February 14, 1958 in Cotulla, TX to her loving parents, Melecio Luna and Trinidad Garza Luna.

Rachel graduated from Marengo High School, and worked as a home health provider. She met her beloved husband, David Barbosa, at a Tejano dance in Aurora, IL, and they were together for 37 years before his passing in 2020.

Rachel loved cooking, hanging out with family and friends, listening to Tejano music, and Tejano dancing. And when she wasn’t working, she was enjoying one of her favorite activities … shopping!

Rachel was funny, kind, loving, caring, and brave. She was also smart, strong, good-hearted, hardworking, and understanding. Despite all of her challenges, she always had a smile on her face. She put others before herself in their time of need. She loved everyone unconditionally.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, David Barbosa. She is survived by her children, Marisa (Kelley) Pedroza Stephens, Annabelle (Jose) Rubio, Sarah Barbosa, and David Barbosa Jr.; siblings, Ismael Luna, Rosaura (Terrance) Gavin, Raul (Stephanie) Luna, and Anna Franco; grandchildren, Anthony, Damion, Larissa, Mariah, Alissa, Sergio, Clarissa, Alinah, Aliana, Elijah, Jacob, Nathan, and Jalissa; one great-grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, May 27, 2022 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Mourners are encouraged to review the funeral home COVID-19 public health policies ahead of time.

Visitation will continue from 10:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Monsignor Arquimedes Vallejo will be officiating.
