Penelope “Penny” Ann Stevenson, age 81, resident of Elgin, Illinois since 2020, died peacefully on August 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Penny was born October 28, 1942, in Evanston, IL to her loving parents, Kenneth M. and Mary L. (née Martin) Treacy.
Penny graduated from Barrington High School, Barrington, Illinois, Class of 1960. After a successful sales career at Cryovac, Inc., of which Penny was one of the first women in her company to be elevated to outside sales, she retired to Marco Island, Florida, and later moved to Dawsonville, Georgia, before moving to Elgin to be closer to family. Penny was an accomplished seamstress, avid traveler, and ardent cat lover.
Penny is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Richard M. Dobrich, Sr.; and twin infant daughters, Amy Marie and Jennifer Ann; her second husband, Robert Stevenson; and her sister, Dolores “Lorey” (Jerry) (née Treacy) Sass.
Penny is survived by her daughter, Deborah “Debbi” (née Dobrich) Powless, and son, Richard “Rich” (Lisette) Dobrich, Jr.; grandchildren, Tiffany (Attillio) Crispino, Randall (Nicole) McGuinness, Erica (Michael) (née Dobrich) Spears, and Richard “Richie” Dobrich, III; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her sister, Theresa “Terri” (Michael Wiant) Treacy.
