Patricia Eubanks, age 74, of DeKalb, IL, passed away on October 18, 2023. She was born July 5, 1949 in Chicago, IL to her loving parents, Sam and Agnes Willis Austin.
Patricia was currently attending Kishwaukee College, and worked for the Elgin Police Department as a crossing guard until she retired. She also worked for Chicago Rawhide, and was a bus driver in earlier years.
Patricia conquered her encounter with cancer like the warrior she was in life. Her journey to achieve happiness in her mind, body and soul over the last few years was a welcoming achievement she mastered.
She loved to laugh, and to learn new things, especially learning how to get the most out of her cellphone. She enjoyed sewing, baking and gardening. She also enjoyed learning about African American inventors, and watching scary movies.
Her most recent endeavor was familiarizing herself with her computer. Her love for cosmetology was definitely one of her joys. She would spend time meticulously perfecting her makeup whenever she was going out. She appreciated her final efforts every time.
She was like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon, and she stretched her wings then peacefully flew away. She will be greatly missed and we cherish the time we shared with her. We will always carry your memories in our heart. Now she can take her rest and be a free spirited butterfly in peace.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Glenn and Samuel; Brothers, Connelly James Austin, Barry Austin, Larry Austin, Micheal Austin, and Charles Allen Austin; and Sister, Doris Williams.
She is survived by her children, Deborah, Sammy, and Gwendolyn; Brother, Alvin Austin; Sisters, Marion Rainey, Jane Muhammed and Gwendolyn Guy; grandchildren, Montreace Martin, Raheem Martin, Nyesha Eubanks, Shawndréa Chatters, Jada Brown, Samuel Eubanks, Lalya Boyer, Keyeara Freund, Lorenzo Eubanks, Sammia Eubanks, Micah Boyer, and Janahla Freund; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her Step-Grandchildren, Savanna Freund, Untia McJefferson, and Tazmar Taylor.
She had six Great-Grandchildren, Raheem Martin JR, Mykah Martin, Sophira Martin, Amayia Martin, Jocelyn Martin, and Anderson Martin.
