Patricia “Paddy” Ann Carreon, age 78, of Elgin, IL, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 18, 2025 at Advocate Sherman Hospital, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final moments.

Paddy was born October 22, 1946 in Chicago, IL, the beloved daughter of Macario and Marie Ann (née Boron) Carreon. She grew up in Hyde Park, and attended St. Thomas the Apostle Grammar School and Aquinas High School. Driven, intelligent, and resourceful, Paddy carved out a respected career in banking and insurance sales. Her integrity and dedication earned the trust of her clients and colleagues alike.

Family was the cornerstone of Paddy’s life. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She cared for her sister, Cecilia, during her illness, offering comfort and strength through every step, and was a loving and supportive mom to Chris, encouraging him and taking pride in his accomplishments. She treasured family gatherings, keeping the music playing and the dancing going. Paddy was also known for her unwavering thoughtfulness, always sending birthday or holiday cards and packages, each written with care and a personal touch. These simple acts of love were deeply felt by all who received them.

Paddy had many interests, including travel (at one time spending 6 months in Southeast Asia), skiing, horseback riding, dancing, and photography. She had a love of cooking, making sure all who entered her home were well fed. Paddy also had a profound love for animals and wildlife, especially cats. Over the years, she welcomed 17 strays into her home, and rescued many more. Each one received proper medical care and was given a safe and loving home.

Paddy was preceded in death by her parents, Macario and Marie Ann Carreon; and sisters, Cecilia Carreon and Felicia Carreon. She is survived by her son, Chris Rodriquez, and his partner, Arleen Sorkin; brothers, Michael Carreon and Bernie Carreon; and her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am, August 22, 2025 at St. Mary Church of Elgin, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, IL 60120. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her memory to Anderson Humane in South Elgin, IL.

Interment will be private.
