Maureen B. Pour, age 76, of Elgin, IL, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2022, surrounded by her family, after a two-year battle with brain cancer. She was born September 5, 1945 in Scotland to her loving parents, Patrick and Ellen (née Gallagher) Sweeney.

Maureen met her husband, Richard, at an Irish pub in Washington D.C. They were together for 56 years, and married for 52 1/2 years.

Maureen loved water aerobics and reading, watching her granddaughter play soccer, and FaceTiming with her sister overseas. She always had a smile on her face.

Loved ones will remember Maureen’s generous and caring nature. She had a strong faith, and was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana with much love for her family.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Sweeney; and sister, Evelyn Anne Sweeney. She is survived by her husband, Richard Pour; children, Melessa (Frank) Horbus, and Rick Pour; siblings, Pauline Sweeney, and Charles (Margaret) Sweeney; and grandchildren, Zack Horbus, and Emily Horbus.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00am, Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Patrick Parish, 6N491 Crane Road, St Charles, IL 60175. Monsignor Daniel Deutsch will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1001 Villa Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
