Maria De La Luz Zavala

Maria De La Luz Zavala, age 68, of Elgin, IL, passed away on April 17, 2022. She was born May 18, 1953 in Mexico to her loving parents, Baltazar Espinosa and Maria Arreola.

Maria met her husband, Miguel, in Cupareo, Guanajuato, Mexico, and they were married for 49 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, and was caring, kind, respectful, and big-hearted.

Maria enjoyed listening to music and watching real life stories on T.V., and, most importantly, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her husband, Miguel Zabala; children, Rodrigo, Gerardo, Miguel, Elisa, Fabian, Melina, and Manuela Zavala; siblings, Froilan, Abel, Ruben, Marta, and Baltazar; and grandchildren, Fabian, Diego, Jahir, Emanuel, Katia, Alvaro, Itzel, Kaleth, Emily, Lexie, Emiliano, Miguel Angel, and Daniela.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with prayers at 6:00pm, Friday, April 22, 2022 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Mourners are encouraged to review the funeral home COVID-19 public health policies ahead of time.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 225 Jewett Street, Elgin, IL 60123. Fr. Robert Camacho will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
