Karen Rosalyn Anderson, age 67, of Rockford, IL, passed away on March 1, 2026. She was born August 13, 1958 in Elgin, IL to her loving parents, Ernest Truman and Margaret L. Thomas.

Karen attended Grant Elementary School, Kimble Middle School, and Larkin High School, forming many friendships along the way and leaving a lasting impression on those who knew her.

Karen had a wonderful sense of humor and a deep compassion for others. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome, always greeting people with kindness and genuine care. Her love for others showed in many ways, including her volunteer efforts ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, happily giving her time to help those in need.

She had a true love for life and celebrated it in her own special way. Karen loved to dance and brought joy and energy wherever she went. Holidays were especially important to her—there was never a holiday that passed without her home being beautifully decorated. She delighted in making baskets for every holiday, sharing thoughtful gifts and spreading happiness to friends and family.

Karen was unique in every moment, living with enthusiasm and appreciation for the people around her. One of the phrases she was known for was, “I love you so much,” words she shared freely and sincerely with those she cared about.

Karen will be remembered for her big heart, her cheerful greetings, her generosity, and the love she gave so openly. She truly loved life and everyone around her, and her spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Karen was preceded in death by her partner, Steven Johnson; father, Ernest Truman; grandparents, Warren and Versie Anderson Sr.; uncle, Ricardo Anderson; nephew, Antonio Santana; and great-granddaughter, Nicole. She is survived by her daughter, Danielle (Timothy) Wilson; mother, Margaret L. Thomas; siblings, Deborah Anderson, Andre (Denise) Anderson, Jonathan (Alma) Thomas, Jeffery (Judy) Thomas, Alida Bosco, and honorary brother, Eddie Elliott; grandchildren, Alida (Benny) Anderson, Alexis Summers, and Rodrea Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Journee, Jordyn, Amina, Jayceon, Brayden, and Brookelyn; aunt, Anna (Frazier) Brooks; uncle, Warren (Carol) Anderson Jr.; nieces and nephews, Carla, Christina, Katlyn, Yessina, Maria, Felicia, Trinity, Zechariah, Warren, Nasir, and Aimee; and a host of cousins.

Visitation will be 11:00am until funeral service at 1:00pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Community Center Church of God, 375 North Drive, South Elgin, IL 60177. Pastor Warren Anderson Jr. will be officiating.

Interment will be private.
