John L. Wells, age 68, of Elgin, IL, passed away on April 19, 2022. He was born August 8, 1953 in Watertown, NY to his loving parents, John and Anna Myrtle (née Mack) Wells.

John graduated in 1972 from Carthage High School in Carthage, NY. Following high school, John served his country for ten years in the United States Navy, from 1972 to 1982, before being honorably discharged.

John’s dedication to his country continued with his participation in Take a Vet Fishing, an organization which serves to honor and support United States military personnel through weekend fishing expeditions throughout the year.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Wells (née Burke), whom he cherished; children, Connie (Michael) Hess and John Wells II; sister, Penny (Joseph Shepard) King; and cousins, Ruthann Dewert, Bill Mack, Kevin Mack, and Kathy Verne. John is further survived by his brothers-in-law, Stephen (Shelly) Burke, Peter (Ken Bronson) Burke, and Robert Burke; sister-in-law, Gerilyn (Robert) Gargaro; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Burke, Kathryn (Justin) Burrell, Vincent (Jennifer) Gargaro, Robert (Kathryn) Gargaro, Angela (Adam) Lablanc, Ann Burke, Patrick Burke, Raye Williams, Kathy Reed, and Keith (Veronica) King; great-nieces, Gemma and Bria Gargaro; great-nephew, Lorenzo Gargaro; and many grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10:00am until funeral service with full military honors at 12:00pm, Monday, April 25, 2022 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Pastor Mark Wood will be officiating.
