Jennifer “Jenny” Jeanne (née Lund) Monaghan, age 59, of Elgin, IL, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2025. She was born August 23, 1965 in Oak Park, IL to her loving parents, Donald and Mariellen (née Smith) Lund.

Raised in Arlington Heights, Jenny made her home in Elgin, IL, building a life rooted in love, creativity, and connection. She poured her heart into every role—devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend—always making those around her feel seen, heard, and supported. With her, the world felt safer and brighter.

Her steadfast, unconditional love for her daughters, stepchildren, and grandchildren remains a guiding light for those she leaves behind.

An accomplished interior designer, Jenny’s creativity touched every part of her life. From thoughtfully designed homes to lovingly prepared meals. She had a keen eye for fashion and expressed her vibrant spirit through an elegant, thoughtful sense of style. Bright, beautiful, and full of life.

Her light shined brightest embracing every adventure, traveling, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, boating, water skiing, and jet skiing. She also found joy in snow skiing, yoga, working out and more recently, pickleball.

Jenny’s relationships reflected her loyalty, compassion, and deep capacity for connection. She was a supportive, positive presence who made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.

Her love for family, friends, and all those close to her was evident in everything she did, and the bonds she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In 2021, Jenny was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She faced each day with grace, dignity, and gratitude, inspiring all who knew her with her resilience, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

Jenny was preceded in death by her father, Donald Lund. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Monaghan; daughters, Kalee Hooghkirk and Brittany (Octavio) Garcia-Vega; stepchildren, Matthew (Carly) Monaghan, Kathleen Garren, and Joseph (fiancée Danielle Correiar) Monaghan; and grandchildren, Madison & Riley Monaghan, Mackenzie Garren, and Emarie, Rowan & Blair Monaghan. She is also survived by her mother, Mariellen Lund; siblings, Andrew (son Nik and grandson Bowie), Christopher (Elizabeth and children Jack and Anna), and Matthew (Kim and son Aidan); and many cousins.

Jenny’s legacy is one of profound love, strength, and joy. Her memory will live on in family laughter, cherished traditions, and the kindness, grace, and gratitude she exemplified every day.
