Iris Delia Mendez, age 67, of Elgin, IL, passed away in the early hours of October 24, 2022.  She was born December 5, 1954 in Elgin, IL to her loving parents, Julia Rodriguez and Delfine Mendez.

Iris went to Elgin High School, Class of 1973. She held several different jobs over the years, but her favorite was homemaker and mother of six.
  
Iris was a loving mother and everything she did was based upon the well-being of her children and the betterment of their lives. She enjoyed shopping, car rides, and celebrating holidays with her family. Christmas was always her favorite time of the year.

Iris loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, above all else. She had many interests such as watching her Golden Girls, and always watched her news at 10. She also loved to cook and having quality time eating meals with her family. She will be greatly missed by all her family, who adore her with all of their hearts.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Lucy, Eustolia, Frank, Gus, Miguel, and Juan.  She is survived by her children, David Mendez, Robert  Mendez, Christian Mendez, Josette Mendez, Iris Lisette Hernandez, and Frank Hernandez; grandchildren, Aubry Teschner, Aiden Teschner, Josette Morley, Christian Morley, Breiona Mendez, Naveonna Mendez, and Kyana Marie; great-granddaughter, Legacie Marilynn; nieces and nephews, Mark, Ruben, Annette, Carlos, Corrina, and Francene; and close friend, Faith Garcia.

Visitation will be 10:00am until funeral service at 12:00pm, Monday, November 7, 2022 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  Father Robert Camacho will be officiating.
