Hans E. Dieterle, age 86, of Bartlett, IL, passed away on November 13, 2024. He was born January 18, 1938 in Tubingen, Germany to his loving parents, Ernst Otto and Pauline Hermine (née Zeltwanger) Dieterle.

Hans learned the meat-cutter/sausage-making trade in Germany. He served in the German Army from January, 1959 to March, 1960, before immigrating to the United States. He started working at the Kerber Packing Company in Elgin, where he met Carole Selpien, who worked in the office.

Hans and Carole dated until Hans was drafted into the United States Army in May, 1962. He was sent back to Germany to serve as an M60 Turret Tank Mechanic. He served for two years before being honorably discharged in May, 1964. He wed Carole on October 17, 1964, and they were happily married for 60 years. He worked at Koenemann Sausage Co. for most of his career before retiring.

Through the years, Hans enjoyed bike-riding, small engine repair, watching football, and maintaining his home. His favorite pastime was attending any event, sport, or concert in which his grandsons were participating. He liked to tell jokes and make everyone laugh, and was always available to assist with most projects or lend a helping hand.

Hans was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ulrich Dieterle; and sisters, Gertrude Foerster and Hermine Brauchle. He is survived by his wife, Carole Dieterle; daughter, Susan (boyfriend Rodger Greif) Stibal; son, Scott (Kevin Hughes) Dieterle; grandchildren, Benjamin (girlfriend Casey Harris) Stibal and Christopher (Nikki) Stibal; brother, Erich (Marianne) Dieterle; and his little dog, Poppy, who he spoiled everyday.

Interment will be private.
