Geraldine “Geri” Lauritzen (née Esposito) passed away peacefully on the evening of February 10, 2023, in Elgin, IL, with her son James, his husband Peter, grandson Matthew and his fiancé Eliana, and grandson William by her side. She was born on April 1, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA to Americo and Miriam Esposito.
Geri was the mother of five children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She always provided support and love for her family. She would proudly boast about all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren every opportunity she could.
Geri was preceded in death by her son William Charles Thomas, Jr.; father Americo Esposito; mother Miriam Esposito (née Winterbottom); former husband James G. Allen; and husband Gary W. Lauritzen.
She is survived by her son James G. Allen, Jr., and his husband Peter H. Plumlee; daughter Kimberly A. Boyle (née Thomas) and husband Kevin; daughter Heather M. Kunher (née Allen) and husband Michael; son Joseph S. Roman; brother Joseph “Bud” E. Esposito; grandson William C. Thomas, III; grandson Matthew A. Orsini and fiancé Eliana Menningen; granddaughter Ashley M. Young (née Martin) and husband Donald; grandson Justin T. Binder; granddaughter Lacey N. Eubanks (née Binder) and husband Joshua; granddaughter Devyn C. Binder; grandson Brayden Hamilton; granddaughter Alexandria K. Klepesky; grandson James P. Klepesky; granddaughter Katherine M. Kuhner; great-grandson Grayson Young; great-granddaughter Sloane Young; great-grandson Callen Eubanks, great-granddaughter Carson Phelon; and former husband William C. Thomas.
The family extends special thanks to the caring people at Avantara Elgin, St. Joseph’s Hospital Elgin, Rainbow Hospice, Ascension Hospice, and Symonds-Madison Funeral Home for taking such care of Geri in her final days; your care does not go unnoticed.
Geri’s wishes were to be cremated and to have no public service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Geri’s name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
