Gabriel Galetto

Gabriel Galetto, age 78, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 12, 2025. He was born February 27, 1947 in Mexico to his loving parents, Juan Galetto Thomaty and Catalina Torres Galetto.

Gabriel met his wife, Elvira, when he hosted his own birthday dinner and a friend brought her along. They fell in love, and were married 30 years.

Gabriel had a good sense of humor and liked to joke around. He enjoyed cooking and baking, and watching old Westerns. He could sit on the couch and watch TV for hours. His favorite thing was having his grandchildren over. He would buy them gifts and take them to company picnics.

Gabriel was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jose Gabriel Galetto; and siblings, Luz Maria, Gloria, Teresa, Francisco, Juan, Rafael, and Javier. He is survived by his wife, Elvira Galetto; daughter, Elizabeth Peters; and grandchildren, Nathaniel Quiroz, Isaac Quiroz, Jose Galetto Jr., Elizabeth Galetto, and Erica Galetto.

A memorial will be held at 11:00am, with funeral service at 1:00pm, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Juan Beltran will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Dundee Township East Cemetery, 420 Dundee Avenue, East Dundee, IL 60118.
