Felipe Lucio Jr., age 82, of Elgin, IL, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gregory, TX on May 9, 1940, the son of Felipe Lucio Sr and Josefina (Rincon) Lucio.

On January 10, 1965, Felipe united in marriage to Carmen (Galvan) Lucio in San Juan, TX. They moved to Elgin, IL in 1966, where they raised four beautiful children, and were later blessed with eight loving grandchildren that he adored.

Felipe did roadwork for 26 years, spending most of his career with Maintenance Coating Company. He was a hard working man in every aspect of his life. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and and to his family. He enjoyed family gatherings, going to classic cars shows, and working on his classic 1965 Ford pickup.

Felipe and Carmen shared a love for Tejano dances. They especially love to see Ruben Vela, a well known Tejano musician who also performed at their wedding. Felipe’s grandchildren brought him so much happiness. He and Carmen loved to be involved in their grandchildren's lives. Felipe will be very missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Felipe was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Lucio; parents, Felipe Sr. and Josefina Lucio; brother and sister-in-law, Elias and Felipa Lucio; sisters and brothers-in-law, Guadalupe and Anselmo Sanchez, and Irene and Francisco Abitua; and brother-in-law, Pablo Uvalde.

He is survived by his children, Felipe (Louisa) Lucio III, Amanda (Felipe) Gutierrez, Migdalia Lucio, and David (Corinna) Lucio; grandchildren, Andrew Lucio and Robert (Kayla) Lucio (sons of Felipe and Sue Reese Lucio), Isabella Gutierrez, Emilio Gutierrez, Anthony Salazar, Alexis Lucio, Ayden Lucio, and Angelina Lucio; brothers, Jesus (Juanita) Lucio, and Juan (Guadalupe) Lucio; and sister, Francisca Uvalde.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Prayers will be at 6:00pm, and the Rosary will be at 7:30pm.

Funeral mass will be at 11:00am, Friday, March 10, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 270 Division Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Robert Camacho will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Dundee Township East Cemetery, 420 Dundee Avenue, East Dundee, IL 60118.
