Dora Lee Killis, of Elgin, IL, at the young age of 105.5 years, passed away on October 29, 2022 from natural causes of a long, well-lived life. She was born January 16, 1917 in Rural Franklin County, AL to her loving parents, Dock and Alice (née McClellan) Plott.
Dora was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She married Henry Hovater and had four children; one son and three daughters. Her son and one daughter passed before her.
Dora moved to Adrian, MI where she married Mac McIntyre. They later moved to Elmhurst, IL. After 13 years of marriage, they were divorced.
Dora owned her own beauty shop for 24 years. After she retired, she moved to Willow Lakes in Elgin, IL. On July 12, 2003, she married Harry Killis. He passed away in 2006.
Dora then moved to Village Green where she lived on her own until the age of 105. Sue and Melinda were her caregivers until the end. Dora was blessed to have Sue, Melinda and friends from church always looking after her.
In addition to her four children, Dora had ten grandchildren and many of great-grandchildren, as well as quite a few nieces and nephews. She also had three stepdaughters, Melinda Fetzer in Illinois, and Pat Weber and Marleen Snow in Missouri.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 30W730 U.S. Hwy. 20, Elgin, IL 60120.
