Diane Ellen Cruz, age 62, of Elgin, IL, passed away on January 19, 2024. She was born April 28, 1961 in Waukegan, IL to her loving parents, Edward and Carol (née Finnegan) Reilly.

Diane attended St. Francis de Sales Elementary School in Lake Zurich, IL, and graduated from Carmel High School in Mundelein, IL, Class of 1979. She then attended College of Lake County and Southern Illinois University. She worked as an interior designer.

Diane met her husband, Edmundo, while working together in Evanston, IL. They were married 28 years, and had one daughter, Elena, who was her pride and joy.

Diane was witty and outgoing, and always had a positive attitude. She was very artistic, and liked to paint, cook, and bake. She also enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, and swimming. She adored her two kitties, Ollie and Maya, and also liked to feed any stray cats that came her way.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mark Reilly; and sister, Ellen Reilly. She is survived by her husband, Edmundo Cruz; daughter, Elena Carol Cruz; siblings, Susan Reilly, Amanda (Joseph) McCue, Christine (Mark) Cogburn, and Edward (Amy) Reilly; stepmother, Shirley Reilly; stepsisters, Sheri Koger and Deanna (Jim) Hickey; stepbrother, Bill (Kim) Ramage; ten nieces and nephews; aunts and uncle, many cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be 3:00pm until funeral service at 6:00pm, Monday, January 29, 2024 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  Fr. Edil "Ejay" Jarapa will be officiating.
