David C. Stensloff Sr., Pingree Grove, passed away Friday evening, December 22, 2023, at Rivers Crossing Nursing Home, surrounded by family. He was 84 years old.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 25, 1939, to the late William and Stella (née Jursa) Stensloff.

On August 18, 1962, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Cornelius.

He was described by friends and family as creative, thoughtful and caring.  He was hard working and had a very witty sense of humor. 

Dave worked for Schwinn Bicycles for 25 years and then at Alumax Industries until he retired.  He enjoyed spending time at his home in Pearl Lake where he and Betty made many friends and memories.  The “snowbirds” also loved spending winters at their home in Estero, Florida. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, playing cards and watching his beloved Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dolores Pieniazek and Loretta Rogalski; and brothers, William Stensloff, Jr. and Robert Stensloff.

He is survived by Betty Stensloff, his wife of 61 years; three daughters, Aileen (Walter) Olujic, Nordene (Bryan) Nowak, and Pamela (Cliff) Ferg; and two sons, David and Patrick (Shelley) Stensloff.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, including:  Joseph and Michael Olujic, Kelly and KerryAnn Egan, Matthew and Zachary Ferg, Ashley Stensloff, and Justin and Jack Stensloff. He will also be missed by many beloved great-grandchildren, including:  Daniel, Michael and Alyssa Schultz, and Bennett Olujic; and one great-great-grandchild: Benji Schultz. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the care provided to Dave at Rivers Crossing Nursing Home of Elgin over the past year, especially the care provided by Edwin. 

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.  Details from the family will be forthcoming.
